Episode 76: But I’m Tryin’, Ringo. I’m Tryin’ Real Hard to Be the Shepherd.

This week, we have a mixed bag of releases, living up to our current slogan.  Going to both ends of our rating spectrum (literally…Brian give a 5 and a 1 this week), Nick and Brian shepherd you through five new releases that do everything from grind your face to a pulp to bore you to the point of self mutilation.  Ok, the boring one may not be quite that bad, but it’s not good.  What is good, though, are the two first-impressions we end the show with, one of which we (excitedly) got to play for you!  To round off this week’s shenanigans, Brian shares his live review of the Deftones and Periphery show he caught last week…a show he went to with Kyle, but in case you didn’t figure it out, he’s MIA again.

  1. Brian gives something a rating of 1? How many drinks is that? And it’s on St. Patrick’s Day no less: there’s been enough drinks already today! What a fall from grace Neaera had in the space of just a few short seconds. It went from “almost a 3” straight to a 1!

I gave that Darkthrone album a try when it came out a couple weeks ago and I failed to see what any of the critical praise was about. Nick’s review pretty much echoes my thoughts on it.

I think it sucks that Google is getting rid of reader as well. I can’t imagine that continuing to support Google reader would be a big deal for them. I’m not sure what they’re trying to do instead and I’m not seeing how Google+ will replace reader. And I don’t see how “Friendface” would be any good at replacing reader as an alternative: http://youtu.be/j4o2PDwKdcA
