Not Your Father’s Metal
We have been saying every week so far this year, “it’s a slow week for releases” or that “nothing is coming out.” Obviously, there has been a ton of music, but the “bigger,” more recognizable names have been absent. Well, that all changes this week…and not necessarily for the better, as is the sad case for one of this week’s releases. To make up for it, Nick saw our friends in Byzantine destroy a small venue near his house and he tells you all about it.

I bought the new Tempel album and agree with you guys about it. What’s interesting for me is that as far as instrumental albums go is that I tend to enjoy the more guitar soloist oriented style. The classic Joe Satriani albums from the late 80s set the mold for what a great guitar instrumental album can be. Steve Vai followed in those footsteps, and today bands such as Scale The Summit still follow that mold. But even though Tempel doesn’t match that style, I like their new album a lot.
That story about OJ wanting to keep all his teeth was hilarious.
