Dream Big and Hit Hard
The last two episodes were busy ones, jam packed with first impressions and live reviews, so we took a step back this week…which was easy since we didn’t go to shows last week. We still have three new reviews for you, and music for your aural bloodletting, so it’s not like we took the week off or anything. We just got down to the brass tacks.
Reviews:
Fallujah – Dreamless (Nuclear Blast)
Polar – No Cure No Savior (Prosthetic)
Dawnbringer – XX
I’m in agreement with you guys about Dreamless by Fallujah. Your quotes about it getting tiresome and saying that you’ve figured out their formula certainly ring true. Since it is such a long album, I definitely still want to give this album more chances to make an impression on me. I’m wondering if I want to pick out about half the tracks and just listen to those. As you noted, some of those tracks at the end don’t seem to stand out and demand to be listened to.
I bought the new Polar, but haven’t listened to it yet. I recently listened to their previous album, Shadowed by Vultures. That album holds up great. It’s good to hear your reviews that No Cure No Saviour follows up from where Shadowed by Vultures left off. I’m really looking forward to listening to No Cure No Saviour.
It sounds like you have reviewed two “sideshow darlings” this week. I would put Polar in that list because Polar is one of the bands that I’ve really come to like that I would not have known about if it wasn’t for this podcast. Maybe because of the hardcore vibe, Polar doesn’t seem to make it on the radar of the metal blogs.
