Interest Levels May Vary
We have bit of treat this week – your hosts were recording together in person. Ok, so maybe that doesn’t make a big difference to you, but it’s fun for us. Also, all three albums reviews are from bands new to the show, which is quite an accomplishment two hundred and ninety four weeks in.
Reviews:
Full of Hell – Trumpeting Ecstasy (Profound Lore)
Ulsect – Ulsect (Season of Mist)
Imperium – Sacramentum (CD – Ultimate Massacre Productions)
First Impressions:
Byzantine – “New Way to Bear Witness” from The Cicada Tree out July 28th from Metal Blade
Full Of Hell – Trumpeting Ecstasy
Even though it sounds like I don’t need to buy the Full of Hell album, I am interested in listening to that 7 minute song you talked about.
I got the new Scale the Summit album: In a World of Fear. You aren’t missing anything. It’s not bad by any means, and I might even say it is slightly better than their last album “V”. Or should that be “his” last album because the album is primarily a Chris Letchford solo project with anyone else he invites to play on it (including your buddy Jeff Loomis on one song on the new album). But the new album doesn’t hold a candle to their 2013 album “The Migration”. I love “The Migration” and go back to it regularly, but I don’t see my self going back to “In a World of Fear” much in the future.
While I regret that I wasn’t able to see Temple of the Dog last year when they played at Madison Square Garden, I did get to see Chris Cornell lead Soundgarden at Webster Hall a couple of years ago. They performed Superunknown in its entirety.
