Episode 330: Orphaned Land, Clamfight, Vile Ones 2018 Album Reviews + Georgia Bandcamp Pick: Bury Me Breathing

The Devil Went Down…

Instead of writing something witty (or not) here, I’m going to start a discussion we didn’t have on the show – Slayer is finally calling it a day.  If you’ve been listening to the show for a while, you know how Nick and I feel about it (they should have done it years ago).  How do you feel?  Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. If you’re struggling to find good Bandcamp picks from Georgia, what are you going to do when you get to South Dakota?

I’m intrigued by the new Orphaned Land album. I never really gave any Orphaned Land albums the full attention they deserve. It seems weird to say this in January, but the only thing preventing me from buying their album right now is that there are lots of other new releases that I want to listen to. Most notably, I’m listening to Down Below by Tribulation. I seem to recall that you guys didn’t love Tribulation’s last album. I did really like Tribulation’s previous album, and Down Below is more of the same, hence I’m really liking it as well.

As for the Slayer tour, they sure got some good bands to go along with them on the tour. Seeing Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth, and Testament together sounds like a good lineup.

Regarding Machine Head, I’ll say this about it: I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t review it or didn’t even listen to the full album.
