I can tell you why there are post offices in Arizona that get their mail delivered by mules: the only way to get to the bottom of the Grand Canyon is by walking or taking a mule. Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon has mail service so that you can send a postcard to your family informing them of the great adventure you are having. I can assure you there ain’t no mail truck driving down there to pick up your postcard. I think there are also Native American reservations at other locations in the canyon that are only accessible by walking or by mule.

I gotta say, we have different opinions about compiling our year end lists. For me, it’s a labor of love. I’m currently working on mine and am having a blast re-listening to some great music that I haven’t listened to in many months. This year saw a lot of great releases in the early part of the year that I need to go back and listen to. In fact, it’s entirely possible that 4 out of my top 10 will be albums that were released in January, including album of the year.
