-I’m in the same boat regarding tours. There doesn’t seem to be much grabbing my attention so far this year. The biggest show for me is the Dream Theater show that they are going to play Scenes from a Memory in its entirety.
-Bands with three guitarists where it pays off? Periphery, Foo Fighters, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Eagles. Go listen to that guitar part in Hotel California.
-Regarding fretless bass, as Nick alluded to, if you want to show off the capabities of the instrument you would either start on a high notes and slide down or you’d start on a low note and slide up. It certainly is a choice of the player to play in that style. Upright double basses that are played in classical orchestras and jazz bands and fretless. But you usually find those players playing the notes “straight” and using the lack of frets to just add vibrato.
-We need Google plus back so we can share stuff like this video which has made my day:

-You got it wrong. C is not for Candy. C is for Cookie.
– Good, so we aren’t missing anything huge.
– Fair enough. Though, I totally forgot there were 3 guitarists in the Foo Fighters, so that either is a bad example, or I just don’t listen to enough Foo.
– I mean, I knew that basses can play the low parts, but I guess it didn’t occur to me that they all decide to play in the same note ranges. I didn’t realize that about uprights (I may have “known” but never realized, if that makes sense. Nick definitely knows that.)
– Nobody misses Google+. Everybody uses other social media. That video was pretty funny though.
– That’s good enough for me.
“That’s good enough for me.”
Well played, sir.
