Not only do we have an overload of music for you this week, most of it is really heavy and pretty fucking intense. Even better is we like or love all of it! Hopefully you do too!

Everything you said about Infant Annihilator reminded me of Rings of Saturn. Then I looked up Infant Annihilator on Metal Archives and went to their “Similar Artists” tab and sure enough, the most similar band is in fact Rings of Saturn. Rings of Saturn’s last album was my number 6 album of 2017.
I saw Amorphis recently. It was almost exactly one year after Brian and I saw them in the same venue, Gramercy Theater. They weren’t bad, but they were definitely better when we saw them a year ago. The only thing I can speculate is that they weren’t as tight this time because it was only the second date of the tour.
I also saw Metallica S&M 2 in theaters lat night. Nothing much to say other than it was awesome.
Yeah, I feel like I need to revisit Rings of Saturn. I was talking about IA with a coworker and that was his main reference for similarities as well. Apparently I’m missing out!!
I am going to the weirdest of mashup shows tonight in Worcester. Every year they do a Rock & Shock festival that combines a metal show with a horror con. The lineup is usually pretty weak, but this year they have a folk metal tour (Korpiklanni and Eluveitie) mashing up with the Revocation, Psycroptic, Conjurer tour. ….I can’t not see that!

The convergence of those two tours looks like a good show, as Revocation/Psycroptic play in Brooklyn on Saturday night and then Eluveitie/Korpiklanni play separately in Manhattan on Monday. As a side note, it seems like every band got together at the beginning of the year and said: “Let’s all play in the Northeastern United Status in autumn.” This year has been pretty light in terms of good shows so far, but now there are TONS of shows coming to town in the next several weeks.
