Yeah, We Did It Too

As we discussed in 2019 closer Episode 405, we made “best of the decade” list too.  After collaborating on the 2010 picks (the podcast hadn’t started yet), we took the top 3 albums from each of our “Best of the Year” lists.  Since we didn’t want to repeat bands, we then together picked the best of the repeat offenders.  Next, we individually ranked the remaining albums before finally compiling them like we do the other “Best of the Year” lists.

Ya follow all that?  Good.

The result is solid, albeit a little odd. Remember, both of our likes, dislikes, preferences, tolerances, etc. have changed a lot over the years.  This list is reflective of the show throughout the years filtered through our current tastes, but maybe not really representative of either host individually, or as we maybe would retroactively rank albums (if we could).  So, while you could argue with us about glaring omissions and the such, don’t bother.  We did it this way to be fair to the recorded history of the show and, well – honestly – we didn’t have the time or willpower to start from scratch.  (That list would have been really weird!)

So, without further ado…

Getting Into Gear

Among the album reviews, First Impression, and live review we have for you this week, Nick and I had a little sidebar chat about headphones.  We mention our gear sometimes but, after an experience this week, we felt the need to stress the importance of decent personal listening equipment.  We hope you enjoy the talk (and feel free to participate via comments) but if you really don’t care, I will take this time to remind you that we include chapter skips.

Scouts’ Honor

In trying to keep with a pseudo-promise we made at the beginning of the year, this show has Brian’s Bandcamp pick for the month.  Next week, you’ll have Nick’s.  To spice things up further, we have a special guest this week!  Our good friend and ‘troop leader’ from the Horror Scouts podcast, Mike, brings his thorough reviewing prowess to the show.

Sleep is for the Weak

If you feel like Brian sounds “tired as fuck” in the episode, you’re not alone…Nick already pointed that out.  You are not wrong either…I was shot.  I still made it through this jam-packed and kinda long episode, giving you 100% of the 50-60% capacity I was at because the show must go on….
