If you listened to the lengthy Episode 79, then you already have heard about this contest.  If you haven’t listened, well, you should do that, but you can also read on to learn how you can win your own copy of Killswitch Engage’s Disarm the Descent.

All you have to do is leave a comment here.  Any comment.  You can tell us how you feel about Killswitch,  who your favorite host is, or what kind of pie you enjoy the most.  Doesn’t matter.  Just do it before midnight on Sunday, April 14, 2013.  We will choose a winner at random and announce said winner right here on  Be sure to use a valid email address when leaving your comment so we can contact you to obtain your address so we can mail you your prize.

BUT WAIT!!  There’s a twist!

Do you really want this album?  Have you no shame?  Then you have a chance to automatically win!

As Kyle announced in the aforementioned episode, if you send us an “audition tape” of you trying out for the now-filled Killswitch Engage  vocalist position, you will automatically win a copy of the CD.  If we have have more than one audition submission, Kyle will buy the subsequent entries a copy of the CD, meaning there can be more than one winner…up to five, actually!  As a bonus (well, bonus to some) Kyle will also embarrass the hell out of himself and do his own audition in a future episode.  Here’s the rules and other important information for this:

– You must perform at least one verse and one chorus of a Killswitch Engage song.

–  The recording can be video or audio-only.

– All entries must be sent as links or attached files to, titled “Killswitch Audition Tape” or something equally identifying.

– Once an “audition tape” entry is received, this post will be updated to note such.  After the update, the contest will remain open for 24 more hours, during which additional “audition tapes” can be submitted.

– The first five (5) “audition tape” entrants that meet the above requirements will received a copy of Disarm the Descent.

– By submitting this “audition tape”, you consent to having it played in the podcast and/or on this website.

I think that about covers it!  Have fun, freaks!

You read that right!  We are giving away CD copies of both Holy Grail full-length albums, their 2010 debut Crisis in Utopia and their brand new 2013 sophomore release Ride the Void!

The name Holy Grail makes us think of the famous fictional archeologist Indiana Jones and his 1989 quest for that elusive treasure.  We grew up watching that and the other movies, as I am sure many of you have.  And you didn’t grow up on them, you most likely have seen them and like them. If you haven’t seen them…well…your parents don’t love you enough to teach about the classics and you have our pity.  Anyway, we want to know what you have learn from Indy while you joined him on his adventures. Leave us a comment here telling us what you learned from Indy. Alternatively, you can Tweet us your answer with #WhatILearnedFromIndy. Our favorite lesson will win! It doesn’t have to be the most legit lesson either…have some fun with it!

Please DO NOT leave a comment and Tweet; only submit via one or the other. All submissions must be made by 12:00AM Thursday, January 31 as we will be recording Episode 70 that evening.  The winner will be announced in Episode 70, which will be available on February 3, 2013.  The winner will be contacted for their mailing address after the announcement. The contest is open to all listeners everywhere unless prohibited in your country.

We came up a little short with albums to review this week (not the same story next week), but had a hell of a lot to talk about!  We share our thoughts on Killswitch Engage rejoining with Jesse Leach, the impact Meshuggah has in 2012, and The Human Abstract having enough drama to start their own reality show (“Abstractly Human” is the  not-so-clever working title).  Also, since we found one that related to the recently-passed non-metal holiday, Valentines’s Day, we see the return of Freak of the Week! Aaaaaaand we reveal the winner of our very first contest!  Even if you didn’t enter you should listen for it because Kyle could not have botched up the announcement more if he tried.

Album Reviews: Chimp Spanner – All Roads Lead Here EPPsycroptic – The Inherited Repression
