Thankful for Death Metal

Thanksgiving is this week in the USA, so we are giving thanks for all Metal.  This show in particular focuses of a few forms of Death Metal, including our live review, so we are extra thankful for the brutality it brings.

Continuing last week’s exploration of shit we missed in 2014, we have four more choice cuts from various year end lists.  The difference is that this week, everything is rated higher overall.  Really, that’s good news for everybody involved…especially your hosts since we have to listen to it all.  Rounding out the show, we have our first live review of 2015 – which leads to a discussion about live production – and we discuss albums that will/might/we want to come out this year.

After coming off of last week’s show focusing on production, we’re happy to report that all the albums this week are produced very well.  On top of that, they are all full of good music!  We have four new albums whose bands are new to us, and two of those are also brand new bands! We also have a live review of the last top of “This Tour is Personal.”  So, it’s a very full episode, baked twice for extra deliciousness (just listen…we explain).

You gotta love Twitter.

Last week, before we even posted the first episode of The SIDESHOW Podcast (go download it on iTunes NOW), yours truly, the ROCK(jock), managed to piss off a band and alienate its entire fan base. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Our new listeners will quickly realize I love to be bombastic and in your face. Remember though, it’s all in good fun (usually) and we’re just trying to entertain you. It looks like it worked too because not only did I have a blast doing it but apparently you all enjoyed following it as well! Thanks to everyone who checked out @SIDESHOWPodcast on Twitter for our first ever live Tweeting/review session at last week’s Frak the Gods Tour stop at Gramercy Theatre here in NYC. Expect more of these soon.

For those of you who missed it–WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU?! Go! Head over to Twitter right now and follow @SIDESHOWPodcast for shenanigans like the ones below. That’s right–I’m awesome and won’t make you go fish out all the old Tweets. I’ve posted the entire transcript from last week’s live Tweeting session so you can experience for all the hilarity yourself–including my standoff with Stray From the Path. Boys–the offer still stands. Somebody needs to put me in my place!

NOTE: The Tweets go in reverse order (just as they would appear in your Twitter feed) and feature no time stamps. This is also completely unedited, hence why the Tweets sometimes appear out of the order they were intended. Once we get a handle on this whole, newfangled “blogging” thing, we’ll try being a little less ghetto and do a proper live blogging session from a show. But for now, you’ll enjoy it this way and be happy to have it.

A moment two-and-a-half years in the making is almost here…

THIS SUNDAY! THE SIDESHOW RETURNS!

Come back here before your Monday morning commute to download the very first SIDESHOW Podcast! And what a podcast it is. We enlisted the heavy hitters for our first show, reviewing all the big September 27th releases including the follow-up to one of the best albums of the last decade–Machine Head’s Unto the Locust. We’ve also got reviews of Mastodon’s The Hunter and Opeth’s Heritage, in which Brian and I bicker and Nick says something. Plus, our very first podcastified Freak of the Week!

Make sure to come on back after downloading the show to check out a recap of our reviews and links to everything we talked about. And don’t forget to comment! This is just as much YOUR podcast as it is ours and we want to hear from you. Post your comments to the recap right here at www.thesideshowpodcast.com. You can also comment on the show by Tweeting us at @SIDESHOWPodcast with #FirstPodcast or leave a post on our Facebook page (don’t forget to be super lame and “Like” us while you’re there). We want your suggestions on EVERYTHING–future reviews, Freaks of the Week, fashion tips…whatever you got, we can handle it.

Onto other business…

HUGE horns up to all of our followers on Twitter. The account’s been active barely two days and we’re already drowning in a sea of Freaks. Thank you! And like we mentioned already, to all the bands contacting us, keep it coming! We’re planning a bunch of different ways to get you guys involved. Stay tuned for more details.

Finally, we will hold our very first LIVE Tweeting session TONIGHT from the Frak the Gods Tour featuring Periphery, The Human Abstract, and Textures at Gramercy Theatre. Before we even post our first episode, we’re going to bring you instant reviews of tonight’s concert. Head on over and follow us on Twitter for the next best thing to see the show in person.
