Not All Bands Age Like Fine Wines

That’s not a secret.  We have talked about plenty of bands who (we think) are past their prime.  There are some that lost there their way, but got back on course, and improving while they’re at it.  You have others who adapt to the times and, in some cases, go so far as two “sell out.”  Then you have others who don’t give a shit about your wine and are just pretty much going to keep going as they always have. (For those of you in the cheap seats – I just described each of the three bands we review this week.)  Oh!  And Mr. Mike Clancey (now troop leader of Horror Scouts) joins us for the live review!

Hit the Road, Jack

Hey, we have three brand new albums again!  Imagine that…  Also, as promised last week, we have a rundown of all the tours in progress or coming around soon.  Well, not all of them.  I realized we missed at least two (and apparently got a few other pieces of information wrong…but that is the Internet’s fault), but that has all been fixed in the list below, so that counts for something.  Right? RIGHT?  That’s what I thought.

It’s that time! Time for Brian and Nick to share their top albums for 2013!  And this year, there are more than ever!  After individually making lists of more than 20 albums (beyond 20 was largely undecided when they worked on the collective list), the combined lists brought a Top 25!! There were so many great albums this year, it was hard not make a list this long.  Realistically, it should be even longer because there are even more great albums that didn’t make the cut because of math, but there was just not enough time (and energy) to go further.

Lured back with the promise of two controversial reviews, Kyle returns after one of his usual, unexplained hiatuses.  While he only got one true bout of all-out disagreement, he did stick around the whole show to assist in this week’s five new album reviews, all of which are accompanied by new music! However, we think he got his money’s worth out of said review.  Now, there real question is, “Will he return next week?”  Nick and Brian’s guess, “No” but stranger things have happened.
