While expectations of a band or album obviously play a role in how one is going to feel about the end result, one’s general view of a band and the style the play (even if both are liked) can also influence one’s opinion. This also – again, kind of obviously – applies to one’s feelings on a genre as a whole. So of you reading this might be saying “Well, duh. Thanks for wasting our time.” we reiterate that because it comes into play quite a bit in this episode, wether it before the one of the bigger albums we review this week or the new (Side)Showcase we have the privilege of presenting.

Allegaeon – Elements of the Infinite
Septa – The Lover
Regarding Elements of the Infinite by Allegaeon, I’m going to steal a line from a certain former co-host. Is this the best album of the year, or is it the BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME! Ok, so that’s a bit of a hyperbole. The truth is that I’ve only listened to this album twice so far. For one thing, I want to savor this album. I plan on it being on my mp3 player all summer. I don’t want to devour it in a week and then be done with it. Add to that the fact that I bought 3 other albums the same day that this album came out, means I’ve been listening to other stuff this week as well.
Nick, I might have said this before, but if you haven’t listened to Allegaeon’s Fragments of Form and Function, I’d highly recommend at least listening to the song Accelerated Evolution, which is the last song on that album.
Do you think that Septa named their band after the train I take to Philadelphia from Trenton? I’m guessing not.
