  1. Live review: Summer Slaughter 2018, live at Irving Plaza in New York, New York. I heard a lot of people shitting on the Summer Slaughter lineup this year, but for my money it is a great lineup. Having said that, I really went to see just two bands: Allegaeon and Between The Buried And Me. Doors were at 2pm. I arrived at 4:45pm. Allegaeon went on at 5pm and killed it. Allegaeon have improved each of the 4 times I’ve seen them in the last 2 years and they have gotten really tight. They played the song “Iconic Images” which is one of my favorites and I’ve never seen them play that song live before. One cool thing about playing early is that the band often hangs out after their set and watches the rest of the bands, which is cool for the fans because I was able to hang out with the band for a bit chatting and drinking before Between The Buried And Me came on as the headliner. As is not uncommon, I drank more than my small bladder could hold for a headlining set, so half way through BTBAM’s set I had to take a break and when I returned the security guard indicated to me and a couple of other people that we could hang out in the area where the bands store their gear off the side of the floor. Since BTBAM were the last band of the night, the gear had all been put away or put on stage, so I was able to bang my head on the side of the venue in that enclosed area, which put the icing on the cake of a great night.

    1. That sounds like a great evening! Hanging out with one of your favorite bands and getting a semi-private viewing experience of another – it doesn’t get much better!

So, since they were the band after Allegaeon and we’re reviewing them this week, how was The Agony Scene? I haven’t seem them live since around 2005!

      1. I didn’t catch much of The Agony Scene at Summer Slaughter, at least not enough to form an opinion. By the time Allegaeon finished and I waited in line for the bathroom and got another drink and checked out the merch tables, The Agony Scene was over. They had a lot of bands that day so there was very little time between sets, which is a good thing when there is 8 or 9 bands.
